Spotlighting Colorado Mathematics Educators and Teams

This section of our newsletter allows us to recognize the amazing mathematics teams, educators, and leaders in our community. If you want to nominate an educator, leader, or team, please use this form. Those selected to be featured in the spotlight will receive an educational care package (and the person nominating will also receive a care package).

Chelsea Carstensen 

Region 1

 This year is the start of my 20th year teaching middle math in Littleton Public Schools, and currently teach at Newton Middle School. I have served as Math department chair, building math teacher support, and on several district math and curriculum committees. I have been serving you as CCTM Region 1 representative since 2019.

 

 

Andrew Busch

Region 2

 
 Hi! I’m the Region 2 rep for CCTM. This is my 22nd year in math education. I’ve taught in all sorts of schools in both rural and suburban settings. I currently live and teach in Arvada (Jeffco). I look forward to meeting and learning with you!
 

Peter Zola 

Region 3

 
   I’m Peter Zola, the representative for Region 3.  This is my eleventh year as a teacher and my eleventh year at Laredo Elementary School in Aurora.  I have taught 1st, 4th, and 5th grades, been a math coach and taught STEM specials.  This year I am our school’s student engagement advocate which allows me to do a little bit of everything in support of our teachers and students.
 

Elissa Pitts

Region 4

 
   I have taught math at Poudre High School in Fort Collins for 24 years and this is my 10th year as our department leader.  This year, I have a 50% role as a co-coordinator for our IBMYP program.  I also teach online for Front Range Community College and will be teaching a Precalculus class at Colorado State University this Fall.  I have taught all levels of high school math and enjoy new challenges.
 

AnnMarie Cunningham

Region 5

 
 This is my 22nd year teaching at Pueblo West High School in Pueblo County School District 70.  I am the CCTM Region 5 Representative.  In addition to teaching my high school classes, I teach concurrent enrollment classes through Pueblo Community College and sometimes teach pre-service teachers at Colorado State University-Pueblo.  I love connecting with teachers throughout the region and state.  Feel free to contact me.
 

Tiffany Trevenen

Region 6

 
   Hello! I am located on the Western slope (the best slope) in Craig, Colorado. I began teaching Kindergarten in Moffat County in 1990.  I have worn many hats, and taught a few grade levels, during my 32 years in this part of the state.  I am currently an instructional coach at Sandrock Elementary with a focus on, but not limited to, math instruction. I am here to connect with and learn from all of you as well as connect you to others so you may continue to grow in your practice. Please reach out.

   Felicia Westland is the dean of students at Fountain Middle school.
