Calling All Talented Math Educators in Colorado! 

Are you passionate about improving math education? Do you want your ideas to impact classrooms across the state? Are you eager to collaborate with esteemed math educators and make a difference in student learning? How about a week spent in the breathtaking mountains of Colorado, all expenses covered?

If you answered yes to any of these questions, we have an incredible opportunity for you! The Colorado Council of Teachers of Mathematics (CCTM) and the Colorado Department of Education (CDE) are joining forces to host a transformative workshop.

Math Intervention Design Workshop

During the workshop each participant will create an intervention toolkit. Toolkits should be grounded in conceptual understanding, prioritize meaningful learning over tricks or gimmicks. Each toolkit should delve deeply into one specific topic, allowing for deep student exploration of the topic and include activities that provide between 45 and 120 minutes of learning. 

For example, you might do a toolkit on: 

  • Understanding the concept of multiplication to develop fluency with basic facts in short small group activities.
  • Understanding ratios and proportional relationships, providing educators/families with resources to facilitate student comprehension and engagement.  Understanding the concept of multiplication to develop fluency with basic facts in short small group activities.
  • Focus on conceptual understanding of standard deviation and how it applies to normal distribution

In order to participate you must complete your application by June 8th.

Application includes:

  1. Name, address, email (one you are checking over the summer), phone
  2. Position/location
  3. Give an example of a lesson you have done with a student or group of students. Was it successful? Why or why not? How do you know? (500 words)
  4. Describe your idea for a math intervention toolkit that you would like to design during the workshop and why you chose this topic. (500 words)
  5. What grade band does your toolkit address? (multiple choice)
