Candidates for President-Elect
Dr. Joseph Bolz

High School Math Teacher, Instructional Leader, and Data Specialist George Washington High School, Denver Public Schools 2026 President-Elect Candidate
I am so honored to have the opportunity to run for President of CCTM. When I moved to Colorado in 2009, I longed for a community of passionate educators. Finding CCTM, I began by speaking at conferences and volunteering where I could. When offered leadership opportunities, I jumped on - first serving as the Exhibitor Chair, then Treasurer, and finally (and currently) Partnership Liaison. The "Partnership Liaison" is, an idea I had where CCTM could partner with the varied Mathematics and Mathematics Education companies (like Texas Instruments and Imagine Learning). These partnerships have brought wonderful events, cool swag, and a source of income for CCTM, allowing us to keep costs low for you, the teachers of Colorado. As President, I hope to continue to serve you, the math educators of Colorado - connecting with you, finding out what needs you have, and working to serve those needs!
Megan Korponic-Tram

Assistant Principal Northridge High School, Greeley-Evans District 6 2026 President-Elect Candidate
It has been an honor to serve on the CCTM board for the past six years. Throughout this time I have had the joy of planning professional learning and engaging with teachers as we grow our community and share our expertise. Partnering this work with my roles in Poudre School District (Teacher, Instructional Coach, K-12 Mathematics Facilitator), Denver Public School (HS Curriculum Specialist) and now District 6 (Assistant Principal), fuels my drive and passion to ensure that every student receives a high quality education and that every educator feels prepared and empowered to embrace and facilitate the joy of mathematics. I am running for the role of President Elect to continue the impassioned work of supporting every mathematics educator, strengthening our community and connection, and bridging our network with others.

Being a math educator is a most rewarding, yet challenging, career. I believe that connecting with professional organizations is one of the best ways for educators to feel supported, valued, and empowered in their profession. Mathematics instruction is my passion, and my heart is for math teachers to feel equipped and supported to do their incredible work. This is my 21st year as a public educator, and as a longtime member of CCTM, I have seen the impact this professional organization has had on my own growth and learning. I am also a member of NCTM, NCSM, CML, and the Colorado Math Pathways Task Force. My goal is to serve CCTM and provide connections to other math organizations and initiatives. I am honored to be running for CCTM Vice President and hope to support math educators throughout Colorado in this role. Thank you for considering me for the CCTM board.

Chelsea Carstensen

8th Math and Algebra 1 Teacher Newton Middle School, Littleton Public Schools 2026 Region 1 Representative Candidate
Before I joined the board in 2019, I saw how CCTM honored and supported so many math teachers through conferences and newsletters. Meeting and getting to know math teachers throughout the state, metro area, and sometimes from across the US, has inspired me to continue sharing quality math practices and research with my students and colleagues. CCTM's learning opportunities, such as institutes and book studies, have made professional learning more accessible over the last few years, and I am proud to say I am a part of that. I love sharing all the resources that CCTM has with other math teachers and leaders. It has been an honor to serve as CCTM's Region 1 Representative for the last 7 years, and I would love the opportunity to represent our classroom teachers for another term.
