September 2026 Partner Spotlight

In each newsletter, we will highlight one of the amazing partners that collaborates with the CCTM. This will be an opportunity to learn from our amazing partners, not only about effective and amazing teaching practices but also about what they offer to our math community as a whole.

cmConnected Mathematics® 4, or CMP4, invites middle school students to learn mathematics by doing mathematics. Developed by educational researchers at Michigan State University, CMP4 is built around engaging, contextual problems that encourage students to explore ideas, test strategies, use mathematical tools, and learn from one another through classroom discussion. Rather than beginning with a rule or procedure, students build understanding as they make sense of meaningful problems and discover the mathematics within them.

Lab-Aids brings those investigations to life with the hands-on materials, student notebooks, digital resources, and classroom support teachers need to put CMP4 into action. Together, Connected Mathematics and Lab-Aids create a learning experience where students are actively thinking, talking, modeling, problem solving, and making connections. The result is a middle school math classroom that feels less like following steps and more like figuring things out.cm
