Welcome to the November 2022 CCTM Newsletter. CCTM is a non-profit designed to support educators with the teaching and learning of mathematics. This month our board message is by Peter Zola, our CCTM region 3 representative and his thinking around multi-digit division and the division algorithm.

Practical Practices - Crafting an online, digital portfolio to better understand the SMPs by Geoff Krall 

In our Practical Practices section of the newsletter, we highlight practices that you can incorporate in your classrooms, including curated links to outside resources to build your knowledge of that practice.  In this issue, Geoff Krall talks about the importance of selecting tasks that connect to important content along with Standards of Mathematical Practice.  You can find an incredible list of content and SMP specific tasks at Geoff’s website, emergentmath.com–everything from grade 3 to Algebra 2!  In this issue of the newsletter Geoff shares how Middle School Math teachers utilized the SMPs and rich tasks to build Digital Math Portfolios.

Spotlighting Colorado Mathematics Educators and Teams

This section of our newsletter allows us to recognize the amazing mathematics teams, educators, and leaders in our community. This month we spotlight a first grade math team, Betsy Smith and Kim Colby,  at Sandrock Elementary in Moffat County (Craig), Colorado. This team will receive a care package of teacher goodies!
